And fun was made!!!

Not everything has to be boring. The logo creative ideas are only the first step; but as we move forward to production of our final animation; script ideas may change minor details; we're going to have a lot of fun with this product.
I already have plans that involve silly in-jokes and secret messages in this film; so try and keep an eye out folks!

Here are the next batch of logo concepts:

This should give you a good idea of what type of logos will be featured on the final textures. Not everyone will be overdetailed; if you find the "ice cream" with the "Yum N Yum" logo printed on it; that will pretty much be most of the foods. But non-store related designs will stand out on their own.
The cereal box from earlier shows how the textures will be placed; though perhaps better by the end of the day. Starting from next term (or the christmas holidays) I will be focusing a bit more on how to seperate the bright coloured backgrounds from the darkened characters; as well as redrawing the textures to match with Louis's chosen art direction for our group project.

Quick sketch

While I am working on the background; I tend to range towards the props and object department and textures. Nevertheless; I contribute to this area of our work.

That's professional. I guarantee it!

I love to design and note; but I'm not a great fan of the conceptual department of backgrounds. You won't find much from me in that area...

A Supermarket like no other

One of the things I have planned to design the supermarket is to find that line between a supermarket you can recognise and an environment that looks creative and interesting. Looking back at the older concept work; I don't think the bright world and interesting products are going to be enough for this project.

First:
I plan to keep the models to their realistic size and weight. This means less curves and out-of-place model design; so when people will be lookinmg at this supermarket; THEY WILL SEE IT AS A SUPERMARKET.

Second:
The textures will play out to the cartoon influen ce of this film; so they will not be realisticly copied from the real objects themselves. They will plain and focusing on one to three colours each; though this may change through testing. Material overcoats to represent the surface may be implemented; but only if it doesn't distract from the look of the final film.

Third:
The objects themselves. The supermarket will have two views; from clean to messy (after the chase). So we're going to need a lot of objects stacked into place to make sure the supermarket is able to be visitable; but we're going to need enough of them to create a messy environment instead of an unconvincing visual.

Fourth:
Obvious products have their own look and design; but the supermarket (temporary known as "Yum N Yum") will have it's own theme and colour. The supermarket is modern; so everything will be shiny and attraction. But the colours chosen are undecided as of yet. We want the supermarket to welcome to ages so we're aiming for a more... peaceful range of colours; ranging towards the white, blue and green range.

Thats all for now. Chao.

The Box at Hand

Read the group blog for more infomation........ I really should have posted the info here; but I just don't believe in copy N past'n without good reasons. Not good.
But I'm sure there's no harm in some of the pictures (non-rendered).

Oh; I've also included the Back Page. The side pages can be seen in the maya pictures ok; no worries there Watchers (or watcher)... in fact. I don't believe ANYONE is here reading this; then again... I thought desert squirrels were just a myth...

Follow me!... Ok

The logo designs were all custom and while not every product on the shelf will be original; I'm hoping to have some variety mixed in with Supermarket-line food and independant brands. These were drawn in a way I could have fun with them; even if the drawing quality isn't up to scale; but there was an inspiration to the cartoony vision of the designs.

Oddworld Inhabitants was a gaming company that created its "Oddworld" computer game series some years back; starting with "Abe's Oddysee" in 1996, and lastly... "Stranger's Wrath" in 2004/2005. I recently purchased the Art of Oddworld out of love for the work done for the beautiful series of games; and I thought this might a good chance to scan in some fictional logos and products used in the game as inspiration to my cause:
I doubt I would ever be this good... but nevertheless; it's my cause.

I'm late for a very important fate!

Have I been misreading those quotes again...

Here they are; all coloured up and crude. But they're here... now to do MORE of them.
I've described what each one means at the Pirates Produce blog; and since I don't feel like copy and pasting them here; go check it out! Do us both a favour...

But while we wait for some actually work; I have not really "talked" about how I feel about these designs. I quite like some of the ideas; though my drawings skills are not up to scratch with how I wanted to show them... but I've still got to show the packets themselves; depending on what models get shown. I've wanted to create a Zapp Bar; so this might be interesting to see what comes out of it.
It took a while; but I believe it works... how do people keep up with this...

YOU SHALL WAIT AND PONDER

The design work for product labels and store title has been held back a bit. I've got some rethinking about the colouring of this to come along as well as cleaning up a fair bit of the drawing. While you lurkers wait; here's what to come:

Woot!
