All ends bad. Everyone dies

Title not related to this story,though... it ends bad either way.

It's all over... a bad result is a bad result.
But these things happen, and I hope by next week I might recover and move on from this madness and depressive era.

I will admit that a handful was my fault, due to lazyness and being a "perfectionist", despite never ever coming near flawless...
... but it was just the whole year. From the pirates project direction, failed pitch, lack of communication... troubles all-round.

I say, just smile and walk away. What's done is done... and hay, I could always improve that animatic and Bexley work... maybe that cheer me up

Well... preview then



Ok, last couple of days. I'm almost done with the first and only example for my animator folder.
I can't say I will get a good result for all this... but the whole year was screwed up since Christmas...

I always like my animatics though... (in graphics at least)

Worry

Things are not going well...

My computer is having overheating troubles, delaying the work. If you try and work in After Effects, Maya, Premiere (etc) it doesn't like it, and might turn off.

This doesn't happen all the time, but I have to be very careful about this... and often save. What I could get done in days, might take a week.

WHY NOW YOU... YOU... BLOODY COMPUTER

I might have to leave it at one animatic, and animate it from there...

Final Concepts




Here are the final looks of the Teacher and subject (aka boy)
Shame my character structures are poor... I can never get a flawless drawing through my eyes
... but at least the colour scheme gains attention. Thats better than nothing.
Most of the design was creative choice rather than being flat and boring.

Ok here it is...


When I original had the puppet idea in mind, the characters I designed kept this creative feel I use in my work. And it never left my mind...

So I reworked that idea in general. Each guidelines would take place in a "Learning Room", in the style of a experimentation lab. Where there would be a subject and a teacher trying to complete the guideline task; each example would roughly take between 10-20 seconds.
I wanted to mix in some humour, since these creations could be so much more than flat messages... but instead something to remember, and memories stay in the mind, as intended.
It might be perfect for this folder, but if I could get some animating done and clear things up afterwards... then all the better.

FIRST CONCEPTS

















Here are the first batches of concepts
Including some animatic frames I will use... later
It original started as four different characters representing FOOD, EXERCISE, MIND and BODY. But due to a time limit and animating difficulties, this was scrapped
The next idea involved 2D puppets to tell the story, inspired by "Harry Potter Puppet Pals". But I wanted to aim for children AND adults with learning difficulties; and while it may be charming... I wasn't sure it get the message through
The current idea... maybe a mix of the two. I have one in mind... but working on some tweaks if it can be done in time...

Bexley Advocacy Work

My mum's office workers had a chance I could do some animation for them...

... in 2d.

If not for this, I could have done a independant project, but I could add this to my CV more than a silly muck-around.

The Bexley Advocacy need a short animated clip at the end of their video, to sum up the guidelines taught to people in need. EXERCISE, FOOD, MIND and BODY.

I intend to create several animated characters to explain these situations without "going over the top", a more creative presentation that you would expect...

Month of Horror

Last month... here we go

Let's compile what I have for the folders:

ARTIST =Concept + Textures (acceptable)
TECHNICAL = Maya Workings (... I guess)
ANIMATOR = ???

When I was in the pirates group, my animator folder was to be rigging/animation assistance at the end... and now that I'm not part of the final work; I need a new plan...

Just so happens I know what to do... I let you know if its ABLE to be done soon

I AM A FREE MAN

... not really.

I might be done with Pirates work, but I still need folder activity.
My aim is not for a good result, but just A PASS. it's all I can get... all I need.

If I knew this year was going to be "emotional breakdown", not being part would have made a complete change in my life. But I'm here... let's do something for these folders!

End of the End

... I'm official done with Pirates work.

My work wasn't that good... but that wasn't the reason why I'm done.
Overall the months, I've been depressed... more than any point in my life. And too many negatives over the terms outweighted the postives. It ruined my motivation; everything I should have done should been "supermarket trolley" quality, like earlier.

It's a shame, because I knew my work was never going to be great... maybe between good and passable. But hopefully I could be free to recover and return to normal habits. I enjoy 2d a lot more than CGI, and I hope never to touch that department ever again in my lifetime

Good luck Pirates crew! I know we had some differences, but it be better off this way

THATS IT, NO MORE CGI... EVER











Woah what happened here!
I decided to catch up on some of the models... and they just didn't work.

I think I might have to give up model work at this point, I can't do it... someone else on the team can do it better and has the time for it. I tried to model packets, and the whole program and tools just played jokes and jokes on me... I hate maya

Ok first of all, a few drawings in here are black and white. There was a deadline for my pirates group and a couple didn't get coloured. Maybe I could come back to it, but I rather move onto to something else for the project. I've done enough about this... and the amount shows
Overall mainly positive. I even added some new designs or reworked some old failures. Every product in the store will have these or a default "Yum N' Yum" food logo.
